Director of Business Development, Latin America | The Economist Group | Miami, FL

Each meeting organised by Economist Conferences delivers objective and informed analysis. Meetings provide unusually high-level forums where senior executives can gain insights, exchange views and compare strategies.

The key focus of the Director of Business Development position is to manage the Latin America territory and sell sponsorship to our expanding portfolio of government roundtables in Latin America, as well as our related range of sponsorship services, such as in-country business roundtables, conclusion papers, surveys, research and white papers within the designated territory.
  • University degree in a business related discipline
  • 3-4 years experience selling conference sponsorship or advertising programs, both traditional and on line; Previous sales experience in Latin America and with government events, and 3-4 years sales management experience with 3 or more direct reports.
  • Ability to sell to senior management of domestic and international companies
  • Expertise in managing high-level client relationships
  • Familiarity with research and editorial processes
  • Negotiation skills, particularly in matching client needs with editorial capabilities
  • Knowledge of electronic publishing and the sponsorship sales marketplace
  • Fluency in English, Spanish and Portuguese
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Salesforce.com
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid, team-oriented environment
  • Strong analytical, administrative and organizational skills, as well as strong communication skills both written and verbal
